Not all survivors that you'll encounter in No Man's Land will have the same skills or expertise and not all gear will be as powerful. The same goes for badges. Each time a survivor appears and each time you find new gear it will have a grade of rarity. The higher the grade, the more powerful they are but this also affects how often you'll encounter them. This is shown by the amount of stars and colour.
