If the new update is not available to you after the game redirects you to the App Store, worry not. Just follow these instructions and you should be able to update:
- Double tap the home button and close the game by swiping it up
- Open the App Store > Go to the "Updates" tab
- After the list has refreshed you should see the "Update" button next to the TWD app
